I think overall Chan's is pretty decent chinese take out. I usually get the General Tso and pay extra for chicken fried rice. Tonight though I tried the Hot and Spicy chicken which I regret because there wasn't a description of exactly what "hot and spicy" meant so it came loaded with green peppers and onions (which I don't like) with a skimpy amount of chicken. Chinese takeout in general is usually pretty mediocre to somewhat above average so I really don't what some of these people giving it one star really expected. I've had excellent chinese food in the past from a sit down elegant fine dining place called The Mandarin Dragon which used to be on San Jose but is no longer in business. Now that was really really good chinese. This is just take out people get over it.

Great Chinese place in Jax beach area.... Fast friendly service. Small dinning area.

As good as it gets for local Chinese takeout. I mean if you're looking for sit down, fancy table service you're not going to go to a takeout. This is better than the food i've had in some bigger cities. I don't know what some of the other reviews are upset about. I had the garlic chicken dinner and it was VERY garlic-y. The only complaint - and this is probably industry specific - is the egg rolls seem smaller than they used to be years ago at other places. But, just get 2...I'll be back!

Good place for take out if you are craving Chinese food at the beach. I had the sweet and sour chicken.

Yuck! By far the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Seafood delight was horrible especially with the mushy shrimp and cooked cucumber. We each had 2 bites and then tossed the seafood delight. The fried rice was hard and soaked in soy or some other dark sauce and egg rolls were doughy/ chewy ...If I could give Chans zero stars... I would.

This used to be THE spot for Chinese, unfortunately they have changed management and the cook. The food is terrible now. My husband and I ordered the General Tso's chicken as usual, we received Orange chicken (it didn't taste good at all) and when we called about it they informed us that was now the new recipe for General Tso's chicken. The Crab Rangoon we ordered was so sad, they now serve the triangle type crab rangoon, with hardly any cream cheese inside. The search continues to find a place that is as good as this place was...:(

Not to attractive from the exterior, but they offer the best sesame chicken I've had anywhere I've ever been. Small interior lackluster surroundings but good food.

We placed our order slightly before 8pm. A simple meal for four. It was after 9pm when it actually arrived. We had asked for extra soy sauce and some mustard as well. What we received was no sauces at all. I called to let them know, they said it would return within 10 minutes. After 20 minutes I called restaurant to check on when delivery would return. Gentleman stated he would "dispatch" immediately. The rest of the family had already begun to eat, as the food had grown cold. I, unlike them, really do prefer my chinese with soy sauce, and I like my egg roll with mustard on it. I chose to wait. And then I realized they werent returning. I ate my pepper steak, that had little to no peppers, and hardly any steak. We all did not eat our egg rolls, as we like it with mustard. asked the others how theirs was....The General Tso had no broccoli....as for the kids, they are 14 and with the long wait we had to just get the food, they would eat anything. After I was finished eating, washing dishes, drying and putting away, then the sauces arrive. I directed the delivery girl to contact her employer as I no longer needed the sauces, and that dinner was in fact ruined. I prefer to eat my food hot and fresh. And in the fashion it is designed to be eaten in. I am highly disappointed, and with many other choices here at the beach you can bet I wont eat here again.

I have been going here for lunch and takeout for years. While it is not a "date place" (the dining room is decorated in Early Inexpensive Dinette) it serves great Chinese food at a fair price. Don't be surprised if someone answers the phone "hello" or you have trouble understanding them. You will be enjoying really good Chinese take out. My kids love the steamed dumplings, the chicken fried rice and the honey chicken. I always go hot beef with broccoli or sesame chicken. When I want to be alone, I eat in because well no one eats in here. But for take out, it is terrific!

I agree with most of the reviews. Looking for a better Chinese delivery place at the beach. My fried ride was burnt last time.

I agree with several other reviews that this USED to be the place to get Chinese food. I would regularly make special trips out to the beaches area in order to get the food here. They had exceptional wonton soup and fried rice. The place is a shell of it former self and has glimpses of the great food I used to know. However, it just inst the same. If you loved Chan's as it once was you can still get very, very close at the Chan's downtown.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
